Snakes and ladders: Will AHPRA’s shake-up end the cruel game Australia makes IMGs play?

I have previously written about the appalling way we treat IMGs and how distressful it can be for them while trying to qualify to practice in Australia.

The real question is why do the authorities make it so hard? It is far more than issues of professional standards.

At last year’s annual workshop for the NSW Doctors Health Service’s on call panel GPs, our Medical Director Dr Kathryn Hutt, arranged a game of Snakes and Ladders to demonstrate the difficulties IMGs face.
